Overall Condition The dial remains in excellent and honest vintage condition, with subtle patination visible around 9 and 12 o’clock. The stainless steel case and lugs appear unpolished, preserving their sharp original lines and definition. It retains the original pump pushers and signed crown. The case back is well-preserved, showing only light hairline scratches consistent with age. Some oxidation can be seen on the luminous hands, while the tritium lume has aged to an attractive dark grey tone. The chronograph movement winds with a crisp, tactile feel. The chronograph starts, stops, and resets without issue—engaged via the pusher at 2 o’clock and reset through the pusher at 4 o’clock.

A sharp, mid‑1960s chronograph from the Longines–Wittnauer era, this Wittnauer ref. 3256 was produced when Wittnauer was under Longines ownership, it shares the same design language and build quality collectors look for, but in a more under‑the‑radar package.

35.5 mm case, the watch features sharp, faceted lugs, a brushed case body. Comes with original pump pushers, a signed crown, and an acrylic crystal. This example showing honest light wear and sharply preserved case geometry that suggests it has never been polished.

The white dial of this ref. 3256 combines a dual‑register layout with a blue outer tachymeter ring, a red telemeter scale, and a black 1/5‑seconds track, creating a dial that is both visually balanced and highly legible. The original tritium on the dial has aged to a dark grey patina, while the luminous alpha‑style hour and minute hands, along with the black alpha hands in the 30‑minute and running‑seconds registers, match perfectly.

This Wittnauer Professional Chronograph is powered by the Wittnauer cal. 14Y, a hand‑wound chronograph movement based on Landeron 248, offering reliable two‑register timing with central chronograph seconds and a 30‑minute counter.

Overall, the 1960s Wittnauer chronograph presents as an exceptionally well‑preserved example of the 228T/3256 family - an ideal choice for collectors seeking a historically interesting, Longines‑era Wittnauer chronograph that remains genuinely wearable and quietly distinctive on the wrist.
