The ROYAL ORIENT SWIMMER is a significant model in Orient's luxury watch line, first introduced in 1958. It was notable as Orient’s first practical watch with water resistance specifications, marking an important advancement in the brand’s watchmaking. The 36mm Royal Orient Swimmer featured an N-type movement with an expanded diameter to ensure high precision. It was hand-wound and incorporated 19 jewels. This model set a lineage that was later continued by other distinguished Orient lines, notably the Grand Prix and the Fineness series.

The Royal Orient Swimmer from 1958 is seen as a blend of practicality and luxury, with water resistance and a larger, more stable movement that improved durability and precision. Its refined finishing and movement engineering laid the groundwork for subsequent luxury models, such as the Grand Prix watches.
